Georges River Council has supplied the Kingsgrove Community Centre for use as a drive-through testing facility for COVID-19. The facility, which opened today, supports two existing COVID-19 testing clinics in the local area, located at Hurstville Community Health Centre and St George Hospital.

Those wishing to attend the Medlab Pathology COVID Drive-through Clinic in Kingsgrove require a doctor’s referral before attendance. This can be obtained by phoning your GP and requesting that a referral be emailed or faxed to Medlab Pathology at nurses@medlab.com.au or 8745 6567. For further information, call Medlab Pathology on 8745 6500.

Mayor of Georges River Council Kevin Greene explained that Council has supplied the centre to encourage and support further testing for COVID-19 in the Georges River area. “South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) has reported that the St George area has one of the lowest incidences of COVID-19 testing in the state,” said Mayor Greene.

"With the welcome easing of restrictions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, which has allowed us to start returning to a normal way of life, it is just as critical as ever to continue testing so that we can maintain control over the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The criteria for COVID-19 testing has been broadened, and I urge you to get tested at one of the three free testing clinics in the Georges River area, no matter how mild your symptoms. “If you are experiencing fever, cough, sore or scratchy throat, runny nose or shortness of breath, get tested as soon as possible, so that together we can protect the wider Georges River community and continue to see an easing of restrictions,” added Mayor Greene.
Dr Marianne Gale, Director, Population and Community Health, SESLHD, echoed Mayor Greene’s comments.

“There are more and more options for people in our community to get tested for COVID-19. I would urge anyone experiencing even mild symptoms like a scratchy throat or runny nose to be tested,” Dr Gale said.

Testing clinics are safe to visit and have measures in place to protect patients and staff from COVID-19, including the supply of hand gel and masks. The new drivethrough testing clinic is located at 30 Morgan Street, Kingsgrove. Operating hours are 8.30am-4.30pm Monday to Friday.
